If you observe that the Z-axis does not respond to the up/down controls or autofocus, but the laser head can still be moved manually by turning the Z-axis screw, the Z-axis stepper motor may require further inspection and replace the Z-axis motor if necessary.
This issue may indicate a fault in the Z-axis stepper motor or one of its phase circuits. When the motor cannot operate normally, the Z-axis controls and autofocus function may become unresponsive even though the Z-axis mechanism itself can still be moved manually.
A phase circuit of the Z-axis stepper motor may have an open or intermittent connection, causing the stepper motor driver to report a phase error and preventing the Z-axis from moving normally.
If you have received the new Z-axis motor (lead screw motor assembly), follow the steps below to install it:

⚠️ Note:
- If there is not enough room to work comfortably, you can also remove the housing on the right side of the laser head. Reinstall it in its original position after completing the replacement.
- Remember to remove the honeycomb panel; otherwise, the Z-axis travel will not be sufficient to remove the lead screw motor.
Important Reminder:
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please submit a support ticket on ZOHO: https://zohodesk.1laser.com/portal/en/newticket. A technician will then be able to conduct a more in-depth diagnosis and resolve your problem.
